There is no substitute for experience. Since 1959, the Firm's principals have been involved in investment management and estate planning disciplines and the banking, legal and accounting issues of managing large corporations and family businesses. Combined experience totals over 100 years.
The firm has become recognized as one of the most experienced in the field of charitable planning. Through its affiliated firms, BWS is capable of designing and administering virtually all types of charitable trusts and gift annuities. The use of charitable foundations and other philanthropic vehicles can play a prominent role in the financial and estate plans of moderate to high net worth families.
Kevin Brown is President and Chief Operating Officer of Brown Wealth Strategies, Inc. He attended Millersville University (major in accounting) near Lancaster, Pennsylvania and immediately became employed by Brown Investment Advisors, Inc. in 1986. He progressed from providing the firm's basic back-office services to becoming chief of operations, and eventually President of the firm.
He has 18 years of experience in virtually all aspects of running a broker/dealer and a registered investment advisory firm, managing a life insurance general agency, and operating as CEO and executive director of a public not-for-profit charity. He acts as Trustee for numerous trusts of many types, and knows well the fiduciary responsibilities of a Trustee.
Kevin is Chairman of the Summit Trust Company Investment Committee, and participates in the evaluations and visits to prospective and current professional advisors, money managers and hedge fund money managers. He is active in his church, and also plays the bass guitar. He lives in Bucks County, PA with his wife and two children.
Jutta Tardiff is the Office Administrator, and also asssists in ITC Support. Jutta has worked for this firm for the past 12 years, and originally hails from Germany. There she was the executive secretary in the engineering division for an American Consulting company based in Frankfurt. It was in Germany that she met her husband, Richard.
When Jutta and her husband moved to the U.S., they settled in Missouri, where she worked for Emerson Electric as an Engineering Aid for the Commercial Engineering Group, processing engineering requests for performance evaluations and test reports.
After her husband retired from the U.S. Army, they moved to Pennsylvania where they live with Amanda, their daughter, and five pets. Jutta enjoys camping with family and friends, hiking, and gardening.
George Brown is Chairman of the Board of Brown Wealth Strategies, Inc. He entered the financial services industry in 1959, and has owned and operated two securities firms. He has spent 14 years in banking and became known as an innovator in marketing financial services. Charitable planning is one of his many fields of expertise.
George P. Brown CLU, ChFC, CPhD is Chairman of the Board of Brown Wealth Strategies, Inc. He graduated from the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York in 1956 (B.S. in Mechanical Engineering), and performed graduate studies at Hofstra University in Accounting and Finance.
He entered the securities industry in 1959 after three (3) years as a project engineer in the Defense Industry. He became involved in evaluating firms for “initial public offerings” and ultimately taking them public. In 1962 he became involved in performing cost studies in the medical/hospital industry, which eventually led, from 1965 to 1972, to becoming part of the merger and acquisition team at Narco Scientific Industries, Inc. His role was to scout for and evaluate potential corporate acquisition candidates for the company, in medical electronics, surgical products manufacturers, aviation electronics, and marine technologies.
In 1972 Mr. Brown was recruited by a major Philadelphia bank, to direct the marketing efforts of the Bank toward high end retail clients, including trust and estate planning services. He also created a Corporate Services program to provide cash management services, commercial lending and investment banking services to small and medium sized businesses in the southeastern Pennsylvania market, which ultimately culminated by 1986 in several billion dollars of commitments and investments, and over $2 billion in ongoing deposit relationships.
Part of the investment banking relationships required that Mr. Brown establish an NASD/SEC registered broker/dealer on behalf of the Bank. In 1986 Mr. Brown negotiated with the Bank to run the broker/dealer independently and left to also establish Brown Investment Advisors, Inc., federally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
He has owned and operated two NASD Registered Broker/Dealers, and was at one point a Branch Manager of an Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction for another independent registered broker-dealer.
For the past twenty-two years, he has been actively involved in choosing money managers for both his personal high net worth clients and for his institutional clients. Most of these managers are large organizations and operate in the conventional manner of traditional, long equity portfolios.
He also has a national reputation in the field of charitable trust administration and design of planned giving programs for charities.
Dan Pompei is an experienced sales professional and assists in Business Development and ITC Support for Summit Trust Company. In the past he worked for 32 years as an educational counselor, and sales manager for colleges and business and technical schools. He is also an expert motivational speaker, and gives seminars on goal setting and self-esteem.
Dan's past includes 5 years of service with the United States Marine Corp, including teaching combat tactics to the Vietnamese Marine Corp at the outbreak of the Vietnam War.
Capitalizing on his past military successes, Dan is a Captain with the Civil Air Patrol (C.A.P.), which is an official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, providing search and rescue, aerospace education and a cadet development program. As the Pennsylvania Wing (C.A.P.) Special Projects Officer, he has organized trips all over the country for the cadets, providing them with an opportunity to travel for educational experiences while visiting military bases, historical sites and museums. Air Force large transport and refueling aircraft are often utilized for these exciting missions. He also provides flight instruction to the cadets.
Dan is also a licensed commercial pilot, in addition to being a certified flight instructor.
